The Knights of St Columba is an Order of Catholic men bound together in Charity, Unity and Fraternity in order to enrich their own faith and spirituality and by their own words and actions to proclaim the spiritual, moral and social message of the Catholic Church. Yet of all his missionary endeavours it is perhaps his great voyage by sea to the Land of Promise that is most well known. St Brendan's Church, Corby. The monastery at Clonfert became famous, not simply for its size, but as a great centre of missionary activity during Brendan’s lifetime, and also for many centuries after his death. Brendan spent much of his life establishing monasteries throughout Ireland, the most famous of which was at Clonfert, which at one time saw a community of around 3000 monks who lived, studied and prayed under Brendan’s direction. It was his zeal for the faith and his willingness to share it so joyfully with others that drove him to embark on a series of missionary journeys not only across Ireland, and also to Scotland and England too. St Brendan is truly a model and example for us all. The Church Lane office is closed but is operating remotely.
